For years, I have suffered from back pain due to a history of severe scoliosis. Yoga has helped me to create strength and balance with less pain and more ease.
I pursued yoga, along with other holistic body work, because I didn't want to undergo a complete spinal fusion (still the only surgical option for treating scoliosis). With two small kids and a full-time career as a management consultant at the time, I needed simple and accessible options to help me feel better. I enrolled in yoga teacher training to learn how I could best support my spine and minimize pain. Soon after beginning my training, I began to experience the benefits of my yoga practice - physically, mentally, and emotionally. I also fell in love with yoga and was eager to share the teachings. I started teaching group classes in 2009 and I've been teaching consistently ever since! In 2018, I received my yoga therapy certification through the Soul of Yoga in Encinitas, California.
